Warm up with Gemma:

A lively dance warm up with a fun and engaging backdrop. Children will join in with 3 main components –  mobilising the joints, aerobic exercise and a stretch.

Learning goals:

Children will learn how to warm up the body safely and effectively – mobilising the joints, raising the heart rate and stretching the body in the correct order. They will learn this by joining in with and listening to the directions and extra information from the dancer. To encourgae children to join in with the actions, the backdrop to the video is set outside in a park and the aerobic section introduces an immersive video journey along a fast moving road.

There are 3 sections:

Section 1: Low impact actions to mobilise the joints. Including rolling the head and shoulders, swinging the arms, twisting the body and jogging on the spot.

Section 2: Aerobic, raising the heart rate. Fast jogging on the spot, jumping, going to the floor and back up.

Section 3: Stretching main muscles groups including calf muscles, quadricepts, upper body. With a gentle breathing and focussing exersise at the end.

Health and safety: Please ensure participants have a clear space around them and are wearing suitable clothing (easy to move in). This class includes lots of jumping, running on the spot and quick movements down and up from the floor.

 

Animals Dance Course

A fun, creative and edutaining dance course. Join the dancers as they teach you how to waddle like a penguin, jump like a monkey, slither like a snake and more… Includes music and sound effects for children to make up their own animal dance steps too!

Overview:

A fun, creative and edutaining dance course. Join the dancers as they teach you how to waddle like a penguin, jump like a monkey, slither like a snake and more… Includes music and sound effects for children to make up their own animal dance steps too! The challenge is to learn all the moves from the dancers in the video, then try and remember the whole dance –  all 9 different animal sections! There is even chance for children to make up their own animal dance steps too!

This dance course is suitable for children aged 7 – 11 years old and perfect for using in schools for covering the Primary Dance PE curriculum. It is very accessible for boys and girls and great for children with and without previous dance experience.

Learning goals:

During this course, children practise core movement skills including: Strength; balance; flexibility; coordination; rhythm and musicality. They will learn how to warm up safely and effectively as well as remembering to stretch and cool down. Participants will practise moving with varying tempo, speed and direction.

As well as all this, they will have opportunities to develop and practise their performance, composition and creative skills too. In each class, there is a section that asks the participants to choreograph their own movements to a given audio stimuli – great for developing creativity and imagination.

This 5 week course builds upon learning each week and motivates children to learn, practisie and remember whast they have done; in this instance, a set dance sequence.

Street Dance Part 1 – Learn the moves

A funky Street Dance course for beginners. Learn 10 different Street Dance moves from scratch and practise them to music with the dancers. There are 10 different steps to learn including: Top Rock, Criss-Cross, Roll-ins and more…

Learning goals:

Participants will learn and practise different Street Dance moves by following visual demonstrations and vocal instructions from the dance teachers. There is upbeat background music during the class to set an engaging environment. The teachers add in little fun remarks and teaching points in a friendly style as if there in the room with you.

These exercises can be used as a warm up or as a main activity within a dance or PE class. They are also perfect for individuals to learn at home. You can learn everything in one go, or split into short, sharp sections – to fill in whatever time you have! Each section makes the perfect energiser or brain break in a ‘sit down’ lesson. You might be amazed at their ability to concentrate better when the class sits back down again!

There are 10 Street Dance Moves to learn, each with a seperate class video. Including:

Street Dance Part 2 – Challenges

Using the funky Street Dance moves you have learnt in Street Dance Course 1, there are now 2 challenges to try – see if you can keep up…Then, try and remeber what you have learnt!

4 videos  |  10 minutes running time | Suggested class time 20 minutes | Prior learning: Street Dance Part 1 | 7 – 11yrs + SEN

This course is perfect for learning as a whole class at school, as brain breaks in class or as dance delivery for indoor PE. It can also be used for learning at home. Recommended age 7 – 11 years.

Includes upbeat background music during the class to set an engaging environment. You can learn everything in one go, or split into short, sharp sections – to fill in whatever time you have.

Learning goals:

Participants will be challenged to learn, practise and remember 2 different Street Dance Routine that incorporates the 10 x different Street Dance Moves from Street Dance Part 1.  The dancer will demonstrate and explain the dance steps and motivate the participants to join in and try and remember the order for themselves.

Challenge 1: Remember and perform all the 10 Street Dance Moves in the right order and the correct number of repetitions. Starting with 1 x Body Duck, 2 x Points, 3 x Fists…….up to 10 x Funky walks!

Challenge 2: Remember and perform the Challenge 1 routine backwards without stopping! So, You need to start with 10 x Funky walks, then 9 x Jump & Punch…. all the way down to 1 Body Duck!

Gemma will show you both routines in order and you can also perform with the music with her.

The challenge is, to be able to remember both of the routines, in order, on your own without watching the video. Can you do it?

Maths Operations Dance:

Have you ever hear of ‘Throwing Shapes’? Well, how about ‘Dancin the Maths’ !  Join the dancers and practise and perform actions for maths symbols: PLUS, MINUS, TIMES & DIVIDE. Inject fun and energy into learning.

Recommended age range: 7-11 yrs

Can be used as a brain break or warm up during a PE class, maths class or can be learnt at home. 

Learning goals:

Participants will learn a short dance routine by watching and copying the professional dancers. Actions include making Add, Minus, Multiply and Divide maths symbols. Set to upbeat drumming and percussion music and with a Street Dance Style.

There are 2 sections:

Section 1: Includes an 8 minute teaching video. The dancers will slowly teach the actions for the short dance routine step-by-step. There are opportunities to recall and practise the movements.

Section 2: The dancers perform the routine all the way through with the music.

A fun and energetic course that will get you having fun with numbers. The main aim of this class is for the children to have fun learning maths through dance and creativity.

Twist, Swing & Stretch

Imagine yourself outside in nature underneath a beautiful tree archway. Join in with Rebecca as she takes you through balance, coordination and stretching exercises; twisting, swinging, lunging and scooping the body.

Participants will learn set movement combinations incorporating footwork, and upper and full body movements.
