Dance Equation specialise in providing dance workshops and performances for educational purposes. We are based in Nottingham and regularly work with the local councils, schools and other organisations. We deliver our work in Nottinghamshire, the East Midlands and beyond; due to high demand, we regularly tour our 'Dancing Digits' performance and workshop package to schools all around the UK.
Dance Equation encourage people to be active, be creative, have fun, watch, learn and communicate through dance. We provide high quality dance experiences that are supported with thoughtful research, careful planning and relevance to the people we are working with/for.
Dance Equation produce innovative, creative, cross curricular and inclusive dance work especially for schools that inspires children and teachers to be physical, be creative and to think 'outside the box'.
Dance Equation have received funding and support from many organisations including: Creative Partnerships, Nottingham University, Arts Council England, Dance4 (National Dance Agency), Nottingham City Council, Gedling Borough Council, Melton Borough Council, Leicestershire County Council, ABC Arts, Positive Activities for Young People, Keys to Success Partnership, and many schools. Recently, Rebecca has been an associate artist with Dance4 National Dance Agency
Rebecca Hart established Dance Equation Ltd in January 2007.
Rebecca has over 20 years experience working as a dance teacher, advisor, choreographer, performer and examiner in dance.
Rebecca has worked extensively with teachers, giving them support with teaching dance in the National Curriculum. This has included, fundraising, action research, setting up and leading CPD sessions for teachers, designing and developing dance resources including schemes of work, practical exploration with teachers, leading practical sessions at conferences and training events, discussion and evaluation. Rebecca works with a team of professional dancers to produce quality dance performance and education packages.
Combining Dance and maths is a specialist area of research that Rebecca continues to develop. Since 2004, her interest and expertise have led her to work intensively with professional dancers, young people, teachers and mathematicians to investigate how maths can be explored through dance and how mathemeatical concepts can be used to create dance.More research...
